Nepal
Everest Base Camp Trek
Everest, mountaineering's ultimate prize, has seen
many a moment of triumphs and tragedies in mountaineering history. The
chance to stand before the highest mountain in the world is the dream
for many people, non-mountaineers especially. This trek to the Khumbu
region in the eastern part of Nepal brings us face to face with many
amazing mountains, including the isolated and magnificently chiseled
Ama Dablam and double-summited Kangtega, whose great ice wall rears
above famous Tengboche Monastery, spiritual center of the Khumbu.
After Annapurna, this is the most popular destination
for adventure mountain trekkers. The trails through the Sagarmartha
National Park are dotted with intricately-carved mani on the stones
and on the rock wall and the multi-hued prayer flags singing prayers
to heaven with every breeze. The warmth and hospitality extended by
the famous mountain inhabitants of this region, the Sherpas, adds a
further dimension to our experience of Nepal. In between there will
be plenty of time to enjoy and experience the culture of the Sherpas,
visit ancient monasteries and learn the Lamaistic Buddhism influence
on the lives of Sherpa people and understand the spiritual esteem in
which the Sherpa people hold this great mountain.
The standard EBC trip is 18 days but we recommend 20 days to provide extra days for acclimatization on a more relaxed pace & extra time to see / explore the region's more remote trails.
