Nepal
Gokyo Lakes & Everest BC Trek ( via Cho La Pass )
The breath-taking but little-visited Gokyo valley which is located adajent of the Khumbu valley is where you can see more of Everest (8848-m) and the three other Himalayan giants - Cho Oyu (8153-m), Lhotse (8501-m) and Makalu (8463-m). Here, a hike to the high vantage point of Gokyo Ri (5350-m) will reward us with views of four of the eight highest mountains on earth - all in one wide panorama !
This is a more challenging trek than the standard Everest Base Camp Trek. Besides the highlights of the EBC, specifically Kala Pattar and EBC itself, this trek takes in Gokyo Ri and includes crossing of a high mountain pass - 5420m Cho La - as we trek from the Gokyo to the Khumbu valley. That's 4 major high points over 5000m in
one single trek, a considerable challenge especially to those unaccustomed
to high altitude travel.
As usual, we will have time to visit the ice serac formations
at Everest Base Camp (5365-m) in addition to the classic hike up to
Kala Patar (5545-m) with its sensational views of Everests entire
South Face and West Ridge.
These mountains are magical - and so are our encounters with the Sherpa
people, the famous mountain dwellers of this Himalayan wonderland. As
in the classic Everest Base Camp trek, the warmth and hospitality extended
by the local inhabitants of this region, the Sherpas, will add a further
dimension to our experience of Nepal.

Day 1

Singapore - Kathmandu |
| Day 2 |
At leisure in Kathmandu |
| Day 3 - 21 / 22 |
We begin our Everest journey with an unforgettable mountain
flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2860m) where the trek begins. Along
the way we'll pass through the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar and
the beautiful Tengboche monastery.
As in our 20D EBC trek, we first visit Kala
Pattar (5545m) & Everest Base Camp (5365m) to see the spectacular view of Everest. Then we detour from the usual Everest
trails into the Goyko Valley, a spectacular wilderness of vast glaciers
and turquoise lakes, via the Cho La pass (5420-m). At Gokyo, we ascend Gokyo Ri (5,350m), where the views of Everest and other Himalayan giants are equally astounding.
We return to Namche via the little known Renjo La (5340m) and then hike back to Lukla where we will take a short flight back to Kathmandu.
