Langtang - Gosainkund Trek
Just south of Langtang is Gosainkund (4380-m), the
site of several sacred lakes that see thousands of Hindu pilgrims coming
to worship and bathe in its water during the full moon between mid-July
& mid-August. This is an enhanced version of our 15-day Langtang
Valley Trek for those with more time on their hand and an interest to
see more of the region.
This trek to the spectacular Langtang Valley and the
holy lakes of Gosainkund offers an opportunity to explore villages,
to climb surrounding small peaks up to 5000-m or higher (such as the
wonderful hike up Tsergo Ri 4984-m) and to visit glaciers at a comfortably
moderate elevation. The trail itself offers trekkers an exceptional
diversity of scenery and culture. Highly recommended for those looking
for the opportunity to stand atop a snow-clad Himalaya peak.
Highlights
- Exceptional diversity of scenery & culture as trails wind
through timeless villages of the Tamang hill people and the Helambu
Sherpas.
- Hike to Tsergo Ri (4984-m) or Kyanjin Ri (4773-m)
