Gunung Muntahak is located 56km northeast of Johor Bahru ( Johor State ) at the outskirts of Kota Tinggi town within the grounds of the Kota Tinggi Holiday Resort. There are two accesses to this peak, one is by the Kota Tinggi Waterfalls (picture below) and the other one by the north eastern side via a long stretch of off road (Ken Waterfalls). The hike to the summit takes about 3.5 hours and the trail is not that steep at all (20 to 25 degree) and makes an easy hike with a wide and open trail throughout, except the last 10 minutes to the summit. Comparing to many other jungle treks in Malaysia, Muntahak trail is probably makes one of the easiest and relaxing trek with sparodic shots of cool breeze throughout. During the trek, you'll see these amazingly huge umbrella palms standing more than 2 meters tall on both sides of the trail and each palm leave is able to shelter more than 2 persons from the rain (if need be). This type of palm is also found in Gunung Belumut. The descending is a pleasant 3 hours down. Including lunch break, the entire hike takes about 7 hours. This Day Trek ends at the Kota Tinggi Waterfall where one can dive and dip in the cold and refreshing pool, so irresistable after the long day's hike. There are also shower facilites for washing up after the trek and dip in the waterfalls.
Its close proximity to Singapore makes it an ideal day trip for those looking for an easy and relaxing trek away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We look forward to trekking with you to Muntahak, join us!

The climate is tropically humid and a trek in such
condition can be physically draining. Everyone needs to be prepared
for bad weather with basic waterproofing gear such as ponchos and rain-coats
( even umbrellas in camp is helpful ...! ). Waterproofing for your backpack
is a must in the wet season and a trekking pole or walking stick would
be useful.
The paths can be very slippery even during dry weather.
Sandals not recommended and it is important to wear a pair of walking
shoes to protect against potentially sharp rocks and tree roots. A walking
stick may also be useful for the trek. And if it's the rainy season,
be prepared for leeches ... your insect repellent may just be your saviour
!
