Xinjiang Silkroad Overland Adventure

The Silk Road is the ancient passageway that connected the ancient civilizations from China, India, Persia, and Arabia with those from Greece and Rome, and thus promoted the interchange of trade & culture between East and West.

The long sections of the Silk Road running across Xinjiang make up a treasure house of relics known to the whole world with their frontier passes, ancient cities and castles, strongholds and fortifications, Buddhist caves and temples, courier stations, ancient tombs, war-signaling stations, etc. They are like strings of pearls that sparkle brilliantly and colorfully along the ancient Road.

This Silk Road overland adventure brings you to almost all the significant places of interest on the China Silk Road, including Kashgar which is famous for its Sunday market.

Singapore - Chengdu - Dunhuang
Day 3 - 16

Xinjiang Overland Silk Road Program
From Chengdu we travel to Dunhuang by train and visit its famous sights. Then we continue to Turpan which is a grape paradise. Visit the Flaming mountains and then we transfer to Urumqi by bus and visit some of the nearby famous sights such as Tianchi or Heavenly Lake. The beautiful Sayram Lake is next and this is followed by the high grasslands of Bayinbuluke. We then drive to Kuche through parts of the Taklamakan desert and onwards to Kashgar where we get to visit its famous colour market and some other well-known sights. We then take train back to Urumqi and fly back to Chengdu and ends our Silk Road journey.

As in any overland adventure, the drives will be long and over rugged mountain terrain and remote regions so all participants must travel with an open mind and positive attitude. This trip may be tough at times and cannot be done by unprepared people just looking for a comfortable holiday. This overland is not for the faint-hearted !

All participants are strongly advised to join our weekly GCS to tune up their fitness for this trip.
