The BOAC Team

SIM TIM SUAN

The company is co-founded and managed by Sim Tim Suan, or Tim as he is better known. After graduating from the local university and after a doldrum number of years in the financial industry, his restlessness got the better of him. From the initial aim of finding and gathering like-minded adventurous individuals together to fulfil his dream of visiting some of the most exotic adventure destinations of the world, Tim has progressed from being a participant to the owner of an adventure travel company that is setting new standards in the local adventure travel market with the basic philosophy that no traveller should have had a bad time in the outdoor.

An avid trekker to high & cold places, Tim has walked the trails of some of the best well-known high altitude treks in the world including Nepal - Everest, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri & Langtang - as well as Sikkim's Goecha-La, Pakistan's Concordia & K2 Base Camp, East Africa's Mount Kilimanjaro, Kenya & Meru, Indonesia's Mount Rinjani & Agung, South Africa's Drakensbergs, Taiwan's Yushan, Syue Shan & Qilai Shan as well as beautiful Yading Nature Reserve (in SW Sichuan), Meili Xueshan (in NW Yunnan), and Siguniang Shan in China's Tibetan borderlands. Nearer to home, he has been to the summit of Mount Kinabalu no less than 9 times. Tim is presently our in-house high altitude specialist and adventure travel consultant.

JOSEPH FOO

Joseph brings to the company the experience and knowledge of 20 years of outdoor life. Since 1988 he has done, organized & led more than 200 treks, including Gunung Tahan (Malaysia's toughest trek) no less than 10 times, with the last one in a cool 2 days. A prolific climber, Joseph also has the distinction of being the winner of Singapore's inaugural National Speed Climbing Championship in 1996. In recent years, he's also a keen endurance and ace adventure racer, having participated in National Geographic Action Asia Challenge, and Splash Eco-Xtreme in Malaysia, as well as the Trailwalker Ultramarathon which is a gruelling 100km race across Hong Kong's mountainous terrain. In Dec 2006, Joseph led a team of 10 members (the oldest at 56 years old) successfully to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro - a feat not previously achieved by any other large-size outdoor group from Singapore. Most recently, in Jun 2007, he won 1st honours in Mixed Team event in the Adventure Singapore 2007 Race, winning by a wide margin over the rest of the field, including the winning Men's Open team.

More than a seasoned outdoor person, Joseph also strives to give back what he has learnt all these years by sharing his know-hows with outdoor newbies and novices in his capacity as a full-time outdoor instructor last few years.  He has ample experience leading big groups (from schools and corporations) and is well-kneeled in risk assessment management (RAM).  With many enviable certifications under his belt :- qualified Life Guard, certified Wilderness First Aid Responder, certified Urban First Aider, certified CPR rescuer as well as qualified Sport Climbing Instructor (level 1 & 2 courses), Sea Kayak Level 3 coach, and a Life-Saving Instructor - he is well placed to be our resident outdoor and adventure specialist & trainer.

As a certified NCAP Level 1 coach (National Coaching Accreditation Programme) with Singapore Sports Council, Joseph is currently also a Singapore Adventure Leader Training (SALT) Programme Level 2 Trainer with the Singapore Adventure Leader Council (SALC).
